Softball Recap: Chavez Takes a Loss

Chavez's tournament run continued when they took on Vasquez on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-4.

Alyssa Anaya made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Nadine Valdez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Chavez has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Vasquez, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chavez will venture away from home to square off against Verdugo Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dons have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Vasquez, they are taking a road trip to challenge Santa Clarita Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
