Recap: Colquitt County Packers vs. Veterans Warhawks
After a string of seven wins, the Colquitt County Packers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Veterans 55-50.
Colquitt County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amira Walters- Smith, who scored 17 points. Walters- Smith scored a full 34% of Colquitt County's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamya Moore, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Colquitt County's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Veterans, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colquitt County will finish 2023 at home by hosting Fitzgerald at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fitzgerald will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Colquitt County is ranked 30th). Veterans will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Warner Robins at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Warner Robins is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
