Tolsia extended their losing streak to ten on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tug Valley Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rebels have suffered since April 29, 2024.
Luke Williamson was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Gage Dawson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
As for Tug Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
On Tug Valley's side, Austin Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Tug Valley is undefeated when Smith allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Smith was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gavin Fitzpatrick was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Tug Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-8 otherwise. Jacob Jones was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Looking ahead, Tolsia will face off against Chesapeake at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.46 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tug Valley, they will welcome Wyoming East at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
