Basketball Recap: Calvary Chapel Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Javier Lawson and Jonathan Macasadia

Calvary Chapel Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Vanguard Christian Knights, falling 63-43. The Archangels were down 57-27 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Calvary Chapel Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Jonathan Macasadia and Javier Lawson. Macasadia went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points, while Lawson posted seven points and ten rebounds. Macasadia has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jared Storms also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Leading Vanguard Christian to victory were Jayden Postell and Titus Robertson. Postell went 7 for 15 en route to 22 points in addition to five boards and five steals, while Robertson went 7 of 13 to rack up 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 20 points gave Robertson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sam Schoenfeld, who put up six points and six boards.

Calvary Chapel Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Vanguard Christian, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Calvary Chapel Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 87-19 victory against Southwest Prep Northeast on the 11th. As for Vanguard Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-32 win against McCauley Christian Academy on the 10th.
