Basketball Recap: Tri-City Christian Takes a Loss

Tri-City Christian easily dispatched Rock Academy last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Tri-City Christian Eagles fell just short of the Del Lago Academy Firebirds by a score of 56-53 on Thursday. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Firebirds earlier this season, when they won 47-41.

When it comes to explaining why Tri-City Christian lost, don't look at Dre Cleaves. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points and five boards. Cleaves continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jeramiah Turner was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Tri-City Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7.4 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.4.

Tri-City Christian's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 15-9. As for Del Lago Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

As of now, neither Tri-City Christian nor Del Lago Academy have any future games scheduled.
