Soccer Game Preview: Jacobs vs. Cary-Grove

Jacobs hasn't had much luck against Cary-Grove recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will be playing at home against the Trojans at 6:30 p.m.

Jacobs managed to keep up with Huntley until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Golden Eagles came up short against the Red Raiders, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Jacobs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Huntley are ranked 28th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cary-Grove). Their defense stepped up to hand McHenry a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Cary-Grove considering their one-goal performance the match before.

Cary-Grove pushed their record up to 3-3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three contests. As for Jacobs, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 3-4-3.
