Baseball Game Preview: Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

The Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers will square off against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cuyahoga Falls has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cuyahoga Falls came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Roosevelt, falling 11-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 11, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Cuyahoga Falls saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Purchase, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another was Braylon Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, St. Vincent-St. Mary's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Archbishop Hoban.

Justin Pytash was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Engelhart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Cuyahoga Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Cuyahoga Falls might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from St. Vincent-St. Mary in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Black Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
