Volleyball Recap: Bassett Takes a Loss

Bassett lost against Mecklenburg County back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bengals fell just short of the Phoenix by a score of 3-2.

Bassett took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 26-24, 15-7.

Maggie Cockram paced Bassett's offense, picking up 21 kills. Cockram got some help from Sarah Campbell and her 38 assists. Campbell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Aubree Wilbourne produced another solid performance getting 40 digs and two assists for Mecklenburg County.

Bassett's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Mecklenburg County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.

Bassett wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Magna Vista on the 9th. As for Mecklenburg County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Halifax County on the 9th.
