Baseball Recap: Lexington Takes a Loss

Lindsay Lane Christian Academy hit Lexington with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Bears fell just short of the Lions by a score of 7-6. The Golden Bears haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Lawrence Corum was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lexington is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Zion Box was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Peyton Clanton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Lexington's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5.

While Lexington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
