Softball Recap: Pleasanton Comes Up Short

Pleasanton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cuero Gobblers. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Gobblers from their previous meeting back in March of 2020.

Thalia Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last seven matches. Amiryah Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Even though they lost, Pleasanton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in nine consecutive games.

Pleasanton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Cuero, their record is now 7-4-1.

Pleasanton has already played their next contest, a 12-0 loss against Ingleside on the 1st. As for Cuero, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Rockport-Fulton on the 1st.
