Soccer Game Preview: Gahr vs. Artesia

Gahr is 0-9 against Artesia since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Gahr took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Glenn onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. Given the Gladiators' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Eagles are ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Artesia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They beat the Monsoons by a goal, winning 1-0.

Gahr pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six contests. As for Artesia, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Gahr suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Artesia in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Can Gahr avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
