Basketball Recap: Steward Skates Past Norfolk Academy with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Steward over Norfolk Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Steward Spartans blew the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs out of the water with a 68-21 final score. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 32 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Steward to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savannah Martin, who went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points. Martin's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Lilly Thoman was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Steward was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norfolk Academy only posted three assists.

Steward's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Norfolk Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Steward will head out on the road to square off against Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Steward's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. Norfolk Academy has already played their next contest (against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
