Softball Preview: William Byrd Terriers vs. Blacksburg Bruins
The William Byrd Terriers are taking a road trip to square off against the Blacksburg Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. William Byrd will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
William Byrd proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 18) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cave Spring, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Terriers have posted since April 4th.
Meanwhile, Blacksburg came into Tuesday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Patrick Henry 16-1 on Tuesday.
Clara McMahon made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
