Baseball Recap: Golder Gets the Win

Golder made up a huge gap compared to their last game against UIC College Prep, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Firecats on Saturday. The Panthers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 4, 2024.

Ryan Drysch made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Drysch, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Maliki Galarza, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Golder's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for UIC College Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Golder will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Firecats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
