Softball Game Preview: Kaiser Cats vs. Grand Terrace Titans

Kaiser hasn't had much luck against Grand Terrace recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cats will welcome the Titans at 3:45 p.m.

Kaiser is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Summit on Wednesday. They fell 5-2 to the SkyHawks.

Vanessa Contreras spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaiser saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Rios, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Grand Terrace never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Jurupa Hills with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Titans have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Grand Terrace is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kaiser, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
