Basketball Recap: Paxson Hicko's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hobart over Hanover Central

Hobart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Hanover Central Wildcats, falling 64-44. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Brickies of the 54-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Several Brickies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Paxson Hicko, who posted ten points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Hicko a new career-high in steals. Erik Kingery was another key player, putting up ten points.

Hobart's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Hanover Central, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Hobart has already played their next match, a 59-54 victory against Illiana Christian on the 18th. As for Hanover Central, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Hanover Central Wildcats challenge the Griffith Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hanover Central comes in on three and Griffith on four.
