The Sunnyside Blue Devils will square off against the Rincon/University Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Sunnyside will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Marana on Thursday. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 13-9. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Tatyana Vega made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Soleil Ponce, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Vianney Cruz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Sunnyside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marana only posted a batting average of .310.
Meanwhile, Rincon/University came up short against Tucson High Magnet School on Thursday, falling 15-1.
Sunnyside's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rincon/University, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sunnyside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Rincon/University struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Sunnyside's way against Rincon/University when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Sunnyside made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Rangers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
