Softball Recap: Courtland Cougars vs. Colonial Forge Eagles

Courtland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Colonial Forge Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 7-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Makayla Brooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Maddi Dunavant made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brystal Newman, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
