Basketball Recap: Makayla Wilson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stone Mountain over Stephenson

Stone Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 52-27 to the Stephenson Jaguars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-38 last Saturday.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makayla Wilson, who posted 18 points. That was a full 66.7% of Stone Mountain's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dalys Monfait, who earned eight points.

Stone Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Stephenson, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9.

Stone Mountain will face off against Riverdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stone Mountain is facing Riverdale at the right time seeing as Riverdale is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Stephenson, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Stephenson Jaguars take on the Luella Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Luella knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Stephenson likes a good challenge.
