Softball Recap: Lewis & Clark Drops Highest Score of Season Against Gonzaga Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lewis & Clark). Everything went their way against the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups on Thursday as they made off with a 17-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bullpups: they've now won three in a row.

Lewis & Clark got a great performance from Lucy Piskel as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Vienna Klein was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Beibhinn Kilgore, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Lewis & Clark was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lewis & Clark's record is now 2-7. As for Gonzaga Prep, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Lewis & Clark and Gonzaga Prep will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Tigers see the field they'll take on Shadle Park at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Gonzaga Prep, their break will end when they face Ridgeline at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th.
