Baseball Game Preview: Orange Beach Makos vs. Hueytown Golden Gophers

The Orange Beach Makos will take on the Hueytown Golden Gophers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Friday, Orange Beach came up short against Gulf Shores and fell 7-4.

Orange Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Beck, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Joel Chandler, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hueytown entered their game against Smiths Station on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Hueytown fell just short of Smiths Station by a score of 5-4.

Orange Beach's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs. As for Hueytown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Orange Beach came up short against Hueytown in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 7-2. Can Orange Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
