Preview: Corning Cardinals vs. Anderson Cubs
After seven games on the road, Corning is heading back home. They will take on the Anderson Cubs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Anderson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Corning, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Corning was able to grind out a solid win over Redding Christian, taking the game 50-40.
Corning's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaidan Raker led the charge by going 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Javier Cayetano, who scored 8 points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Anderson took a serious blow against Marshfield on Saturday, falling 67-25. While losing is never fun, Anderson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 775th in California, while Marshfield is ranked 18th in Oregon).
The win got Corning back to even at 4-4. As for Anderson, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Corning couldn't quite finish off Anderson when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 47-45. Will Corning have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
