Softball Recap: Organ Mountain Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Las Cruces

Organ Mountain faced Las Cruces in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Knights came out on top against the Bulldawgs by a score of 8-3. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldawgs, too.

Leah Melero was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Caillin Reyes, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Melero wasn't the only one making solid contact: Organ Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Organ Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. As for Las Cruces, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

Organ Mountain will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldawgs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
