Basketball Recap: Scott Comes Up Short

Scott played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 69-32 loss at the hands of the Simon Kenton Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Pioneers are ranked 27th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Hampton, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 18 points. The game was Hampton's third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaymon Coleman, who posted two points.

It was another big night for Jay Bilton, who went 5-for-6 en route to 11 points and four steals for Simon Kenton. That's the most steals Bilton has posted since back in December of 2024. Johnie Boyd also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Scott has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Simon Kenton, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 20-6.

Looking ahead, Scott will host Montgomery County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Simon Kenton, they will venture away from home to challenge Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
