Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Mogollon

Mogollon won the last time they faced Ray and things went their way on Friday too. Mogollon was the clear victor by a 17-3 margin over Ray. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Chancy Worsley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Quinn Tenney was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Yoyo Suarez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Mogollon pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ray, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mogollon beat Ray by a score of 6-4 later that day.
