Summit hasn't had much luck against Caldera recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Storm will look to defend their home field against Caldera at 4:30 p.m. Summit has given up an average of 14.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Summit lost 20-5 to Crook County on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Caldera came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Ravens 17-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Brooke Chapin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Caldera let Makenzie Guerin and Analeigh Miller run wild. Guerin went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Miller went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Guerin has posted since back in April. Grace Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Caldera kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Caldera's win bumped their record up to 22-1. As for Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-21.
