Softball Game Preview: Willis Wildkats vs. New Caney Eagles

The Willis Wildkats will head out on the road to challenge the New Caney Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Willis is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, Willis was able to grind out a solid victory over College Park, taking the game 7-2.

Alexi Ford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bobbie Reddicks, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Gage, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for New Caney's offense. They came up short against Grand Oaks on Friday, falling 10-0.

Willis' win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for New Caney, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10-2 record this season.

Willis took their victory against New Caney in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildkats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
