Basketball Recap: Volunteer Victorious

Science Hill came into Saturday's contest looking for another win against Volunteer, but Emilee Mailloux wouldn't allow it. The Falcons came out on top against the Hilltoppers by a score of 50-38 on Saturday thanks in part to Mailloux, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Byington, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 14 boards. She is becoming a predictor of Volunteer's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 7-3 (and 1-4 when she doesn't).

Volunteer now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Science Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Volunteer and Lawrence County will round out the year against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Science Hill, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elizabethton at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
