Preview: Mountain Pine Red Devils vs. Woodlawn Bears
Mountain Pine has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Woodlawn Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arkansas (Mountain Pine is ranked tenth, while Woodlawn is ranked 13th).
Mountain Pine pushed their score all the way to 38 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Genoa Central 44-38.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zyon Wyatt, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cale Slaten, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Woodlawn was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Dermott 70-20 at home.
With Mountain Pine's loss and Woodlawn's victory, both teams now sport identical 3-2 records.
Mountain Pine beat Woodlawn 38-28 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Does Mountain Pine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodlawn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
