Basketball Game Preview: Gilroy Mustangs vs. Mt. Pleasant Cardinals

The Gilroy Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Mt. Pleasant Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Gilroy will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Ann Sobrato, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Gilroy skirted past Ann Sobrato 55-53. The Mustangs didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against Oak Grove by a score of 66-53.

Gilroy's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Mt. Pleasant, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-12.

Gilroy strolled past Mt. Pleasant when the teams last played back in January by a score of 49-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gilroy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
