Basketball Recap: Steele Comes Up Short

Steele lost against Berea-Midpark back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Steele Comets were outmatched by the Berea-Midpark Titans and fell 99-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (60), the Comets still had to take the loss.

Berea-Midpark found their leader in sophomore Nick Reece, who went 8 of 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 36 points along with six assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reece has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Clay, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and six steals.

With the loss, Steele broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2. As for Berea-Midpark, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Steele and Berea-Midpark should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Steele (ranked 183rd) will meet Avon Lake (ranked 411th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Berea-Midpark will take on Midview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 276 places (147 vs. 423).
