Football Recap: Red Cloud Skates Past Sterling with Ease

Red Cloud extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They really took it to the Sterling Jets for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-14 victory. With the Warriors ahead 55-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Hunter Englehart went supernova, rushing for 29 yards and a pair of TDs, while also catching one score.

Englehart was just one part of a punishing run game: Red Cloud was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Gage Ely, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

As for Sterling, they now have a losing record of 1-2. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Although Sterling took the loss, they still got scores from Tayvon Barclay and Reese Bredthauer.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Cloud will take on Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Sterling, they will face off against Silver Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
