Old Rochester Regional and Case are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Old Rochester Regional has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight defeats, while Case will come in with three straight wins.
Old Rochester Regional fell victim to Somerset Berkley Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 12-0 to the Raiders.
Case not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 10-1). Everything went their way against Westport as they made off with a 10-3 victory. Case's win was all the more impressive since the Wildcats were averaging only 4.05 runs allowed on the season.
Aedan Borges made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Case is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-8 otherwise. Borges was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Zachary Kern was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Case: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Saltmarsh, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Case's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Old Rochester Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Old Rochester Regional might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Case in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
