Baseball Recap: Saint Ignatius College Prep Starts Season with Win at Home

Saint Ignatius College Prep gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Amundsen Vikings by a score of 12-8. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Colin Sims looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Saint Ignatius College Prep let John Kourelis and Jacob Jelinek run wild. Kourelis scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Jelinek went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Kourelis a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Ben Marasovich, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Saint Ignatius College Prep will welcome Chicago Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Amundsen, they will venture away from home to take on Wheaton Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
