Basketball Recap: Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop can now relate to. They lost to the Springfield Tigers on the road by a 74-55 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Tigers are ranked 55th).

Springfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Sturm, who posted 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Brecken Heiling, who put up 12 points along with five assists and five steals.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Springfield, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-2.

As of now, neither Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop nor Springfield have any future games scheduled.
