Meanwhile, Danbury hadn't done well against St. Joseph Central Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Lakers came out on top against the Crimson Streaks by a score of 12-9. Considering the Lakers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Danny Carroll made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Logan Lucas was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base. Croix Waldron was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
St. Paul now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Danbury, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2.
Danbury's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Paul has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. It's a different story for Danbury, though, as they've only averaged .340. Will they be able to contain St. Paul's hitters?
Everything went St. Paul's way against Danbury in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as St. Paul made off with a 25-6 victory. Do the Flyers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
