Basketball Recap: Nogales Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Nogales extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Cecilia Burruel. The Nogales Apaches claimed a resounding 74-18 victory over the Desert View Jaguars thanks in part to Burruel, who went 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and four steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Elexandra Chavez was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three).

Nogales is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 48.8 points. As for Desert View, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Nogales didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-20 win against Cienega on the 21st. Desert View has also already played their next contest, an 85-22 loss against Pueblo on the 21st.
