Softball Recap: Las Plumas Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Las Plumas got themselves on the board against Orland on Tuesday, but Orland never followed suit. They blew past the Trojans 7-0. Considering the Thunderbirds have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Kendal Headley's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brooklyn Atteberry and Presley Carlson did most of the damage at the plate: Atteberry went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Carlson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Marli Benedict, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Las Plumas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orland only posted an OBP of .200.

Las Plumas' win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Orland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5.

Coincidentally, Las Plumas and Orland will both be playing Live Oak the next time they take the field. The Thunderbirds will head out to face the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Trojans will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
