Softball Recap: Norwalk Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dominguez

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norwalk). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Dominguez Dons a 19-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Dons: they've now won seven in a row.

Alyssa Hurst made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nayeli Sanchez was a standout: she fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs. Mariah Favela was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while going 3-for-3.

Norwalk's victory bumped their record up to 3-8-1. As for Dominguez, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Norwalk will venture away from home to face off against Firebaugh at 3:15 p.m. on March 27th. As for Dominguez, they will welcome Bellflower at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
