Baseball Recap: Lindhurst Sets Scoring Season-High Against San Juan

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lindhurst). Everything went their way against the San Juan Spartans on Thursday as they made off with a 30-21 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blazers.

Emiliano Zermeno made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Lindhurst's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-15 when he doesn't). Zermeno was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carlos Betancourt was incredible, getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Martin Rodriguez-Carrillo was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Lindhurst always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lindhurst pushed their record up to 8-15 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for San Juan, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
