Pierson had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Port Jefferson Royals 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Whalers have posted against the Royals since May 16, 2023.

Andy Wayne was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Krotman, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Coming up, Pierson will welcome Mattituck at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Port Jefferson, they are taking a road trip to square off against Southampton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
