Volleyball Recap: Masconomet Regional Victorious

Masconomet Regional won the last time they faced Salem and things went their way on Thursday too. The Chieftains came out on top against the Witches by a score of 3-1.

Masconomet Regional had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 26-24, 25-12, 25-21.

Among those leading the charge was Lidia Benedetto, who had eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last two matchups.

Benedetto wasn't the only good servers: Masconomet Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. They served six more aces than Salem's also-impressive total of 16.

The victory got Masconomet Regional back to even at 6-6. As for Salem, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Masconomet Regional will square off against rival Peabody Veterans Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Salem is set to challenge their familiar foe Marblehead at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Witches are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Magicians a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
