Baseball Recap: Mallard Creek Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mallard Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the North Mecklenburg Vikings by a score of 11-6 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 last Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Andrew Brissie, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Mallard Creek's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was JeHue Alston, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Brissie wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Mallard Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Mallard Creek's record is now 4-8. As for North Mecklenburg, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
