Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. River Hill Hawks
The Hammond Golden Bears put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past River Hill with points to spare, taking the game 55-37. For Hammond, this counts as revenge for the 50-35 defeat River Hill walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Hammond got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sara Yarnell out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Yarnell has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nia Green, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Hammond pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for River Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Hammond will be playing in front of their home fans against Wilde Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for River Hill, they will square off against Reservoir at TBD on Friday. Reservoir will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while River Hill is ranked 50th).
