Baseball Recap: Hope Comes Up Short

Hope had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it four. They lost 13-0 to the Woonsocket Villa Novans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Wave of the 13-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

As for Woonsocket, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 8.8 runs thus far.

For Woonsocket's part, Patrick Munger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Munger a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Braylon Guilbeault was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played. Jordan Plante also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
