Baseball Game Preview: Sanger Apaches vs. Ridgeview Wolf Pack

The Sanger Apaches are taking a road trip to face off against the Ridgeview Wolf Pack at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Sanger is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Highland 5-3. The win was familiar territory for the Apaches, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Meanwhile, Ridgeview put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lompoc a 2-0 shutout.

The result came thanks to Joel Gutierrez's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ridgeview's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Edwin Hidalgo, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Sanger pushed their record up to 20-8 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Ridgeview, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season.
