Basketball Recap: River Comes Up Short

River managed to keep up with Shenandoah until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Pilots came up short against the Zeps, falling 57-33. While losing is never fun, the Pilots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Zeps are ranked 61st).

Leading Shenandoah to victory were Emily Moore and Brenna Leach. Moore dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds, while Leach dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards. Moore is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophy McVicker, who posted six points.

This is the second loss in a row for River and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for Shenandoah, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. River will take on rival Frontier at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Shenandoah is set to square off against their familiar foe Shadyside at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
