Golden Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Van Nuys get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Grizzlies as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Ilana Watson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Watson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Golden Valley let Rohan Elhamamsy and Andrea Bartels run wild. Elhamamsy went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while Bartels got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Izabella Pauley also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Golden Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canyon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Verdugo Hills on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cowboys as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Not much got past Jessica Carr, who gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Verdugo Hills off the board. What's more, Carr gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Karina Montero was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Maci Dunagan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-7. As for Golden Valley, their record is now 3-5.
Canyon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Golden Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. It's a different story for Canyon, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Golden Valley's hitters?
Golden Valley couldn't quite get it done against Canyon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can Golden Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
