Baseball Recap: Wayne Academy Comes Up Short

Wayne Academy is still winless after their game against Simpson Academy on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cougars. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Wayne Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was Smith's first of the season.

Wayne Academy's record is now 0-4. As for Simpson Academy, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

While Wayne Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
