Soccer Recap: Mission Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cigarroa last Tuesday, Mission came back down to earth. The Mission Eagles fell just short of the Nixon Mustangs by a score of 1-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Mustangs are ranked 143rd).

Mission now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Nixon, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Coming up, Mission will venture away from home to square off against Martin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nixon, they will welcome Roma at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nixon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.9 goals per game this season.
